DENNIS-YARMOUTH REGIONAL SCHOOL DISTRICT
The Town of Dennis is a member of the Dennis-Yarmouth Regional School District with the high school located in the Town of Yarmouth. In addition to the high school the district has 7 elementary and middle schools which are governed by a 7 member elected school committee of which 3 are chosen by the voters of Dennis. The "2003/2004" Dennis-Yarmouth Regional School District population as of October 2, 2003 was 4,242, of which Dennis students numbered 1,513 or about 36% of the total student population. The Dennis Police Department has maintained a presence of a School Resource Officer in both the D-Y Regional High School and the Nathaniel Wixon Middle School which is located in Dennis. The duties of the SRO in the D-Y Regional High School are shared with the Yarmouth Police Department.
The School Resource Officer is also a member of PROJECT ALLIANCE. Project alliance is a collaborative effort of the Dennis-Yarmouth Regional School District, Dennis and Yarmouth Police Departments, Cape & Islands District Attorney’s Office, Barnstable County Sheriffs Office, Barnstable and Orleans Juvenile Court Probation Departments to meet on a monthly basis to work together by sharing information and ideas on how to make our schools a safer place in which our children can learn.
