NOTICE OF

PARKING RESTRICTION

     The Dennis Police Department is taking this opportunity to advise the public of a recently enacted By-Law concerning the creation of “Fire Lanes” in public and private locations in the Town of Dennis.  These lanes can be created by the Fire Chief if he determines that public safety and necessity require their designation.

     Places in which these lanes can be designated are store parking lots where the Fire Chief has made a determination that fire lanes are required and they have been designated.  Parking within these lanes is prohibited, except for emergency vehicles.

 

EXCERPT OF CHAPTER 94

TOWN OF DENNIS CODE

“No person shall leave a vehicle or object, or allow a vehicle or object to remain standing, whether attended or unattended, or allow a vehicle to remain live parked, within the limits of a designated fire lane.”

The penalty for leaving or allowing a vehicle to remain standing within the limits of a designated fire lane shall be twenty-five ($25) dollars for the first offense and fifty ($50) dollars for the second or subsequent offense.

Additionally a vehicle found in violation of the provisions of this By-Law may be towed and the owner shall be liable for the cost of such removal, and for any storage charges, resulting from the removal and storage of the vehicle.  

     We are asking for the your assistance by not parking (live-parking) within the designated fire lanes.
