National Night Out  - An event established nationwide to encourage police-citizen partnerships in local anti-crime activities. In 2003 Dennis was one of 65 cities and towns in Massachusetts registered as an NNO participant.  National Night Out events are held the first Tuesday in August of each year and each community celebrates according to their own desires.

In Dennis we celebrate National Night Out as a "Community - Public Safety" Fair and invite all of the Town's public safety agencies along with community groups such as Neighborhood Watch, TRIAD, Council on Aging, Visiting Nurses and other organizations that play a vital role in the community.  And of course the entire community is welcome, to meet and talk with their public safety representatives.

In conjunction with our celebration of National Night Out a "Safety Poster" contest is held in the elementary and middle school of Dennis.  The 2003 theme for this event was to promote a  "safe-community" by encouraging citizens to participate in public safety and crime prevention programs and work in combination with the Town's public safety agencies to accomplish this goal.

This year the winners were recognized at the June22 Board of Selectmen's meeting and we congratulate Cierra McCleary, Michael Stergis, Rebecca Murphy, Darcy Christian, Karissa Morales, Katherine Perkins, Willy Torres and Kyle Dailey.  Additionally we would like to thank the staff of Cape Cod Bank and Trust and CVS Pharmacy of South Dennis for providing a savings bond and gift certificate to these young people to recognize their accomplishment.

WE LOOK FORWARD TO MEETING YOU AT THE 2007 DENNIS NATIONAL NIGHT OUT
