Sometime between 8:30p.m. on Thursday June 3, 2004 and 9:00a.m. Friday June 4, 2004 the Eden Hand Arts located at 2 Dr. Lord’s Rd. in the village of East Dennis was broken into and approximately $800,000 of retail jewelry was stolen.
The owners of Eden Hand Arts, hand make jewelry including the bracelets commonly referred to as the “Cape Cod Screwball” or “Dennis” Bracelet. These bracelets have over the last 30 years become an icon to residents and visitors from throughout the United States. During this time Eden Hand Arts has expanded their product line to include earrings, rings and necklaces, all fashioned around the Cape Cod Screwball design.
At this time evidence indicates that at least two individuals were involved in the break with entry being gained by forcing open a side window in the store. The store was not alarmed.
The stolen items include over 5,000 pieces of jewelry of various sizes and designs. Items taken include both all sterling silver, sterling silver with a gold ball or gold with a gold ball bracelets, earrings, rings and necklaces and neckwires.
Additional designs for the jewelry include a Fish bracelet and ring, a Fisherman’s Knot bracelet, a Heart bracelet and a Shepard’s hook bracelet.
Most of the stolen jewelry contains the manufacture mark of “eden” stamped somewhere on the item.
