BUCKLE UP DENNIS

 

"THANK YOU TICKET CAMPAIGN"

     The following "Buckle Up Dennis" initiative is being sponsored through a cooperative effort of the Dennis Police DepartmentBurger King Restaurant of South Dennis and the Governor's Highway Safety Bureau.

     On April 25, 2004 from 11:00a.m. till 1:00p.m. member's of the Dennis Police Department Traffic Enforcement Unit  conducted a "Thank You Ticket Day" in front of the Burger King Restaurant on Enterprise Road in the Patriot Square Mall. Officers handed out Thank You Tickets, which entitled the bearer to a free soft drink or fries at the South Dennis Burger King Restaurant, to motorists caught wearing their seatbelts.

     Traffic Enforcement Unit Sergeant Peter DiMatteo and Patrolman Jim Sullivan assisted by Officer Matt Turner in handing out Burger King gift certificates at the entrance of the Burger King Restaurant on Enterprise Rd. in South Dennis on Sunday April 25, 2004.  The operators and passengers of motor vehicles entering the lot, wearing their seatbelts, received a free gift certificate compliments of Burger King Restaurant.  In a two hour period the officers handed out more than 125 Thank You Ticket/Certificates.  It does pay to wear your seatbelt!

 

"BUCKLE-UP DENNIS PLEDGE CARD"

     The following "Buckle Up-Dennis" pledge card initiative is being sponsored through a cooperative effort of the Dennis Police Department, Dennis Road Safety Task Force, Stop & Shop Supermarket, Marshall's Department Store, Jason's Restaurant of South Dennis, Pizza Hut of South Dennis and the Governor's Highway Safety Bureau.

     On Saturday May 1, 2004 noon-2:00.p.m. members of the Dennis Police Department's Traffic Enforcement Unit and Dennis Road Safety Task Force held a "Buckle Up" pledge drive at the Stop & Shop Supermarket located in the Patriot Square Mall, 500 Route 134 in South Dennis.  

     More than 90 shoppers signed cards, pledging to wear their seatbelts will driving or riding in a motor vehicle.  This initiative was particularly important as many of those signing were parents and grandparents who also pledged to have their children or grandchildren properly buckled into their seat while riding in a vehicle.

STOP & SHOP STORE

           

     Officers Matt Turner, Jim Sullivan and Road Safety Task Force member Bart Kazin conducted a 2 hour seatbelt pledge drive at the South Dennis Stop & Shop supermarket with more than 90 people signing a pledge card to wear their seatbelts.

 

DENNIS-YARMOUTH REGIONAL HIGH SCHOOL

     The following "Buckle Up" initiative is being sponsored through a cooperative effort of the Dennis Police Department, Dennis Road Safety Task Force, Burger King Restaurant of South Dennis, Regal Cinema's of South Dennis, Dennis Yarmouth Regional High School and the Governor's Highway Safety Bureau.

     Buckle Up Week at Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School-May 10 - 14, 2004. 

     On Monday May 10, 2004 members of the Dennis Police Department, Dennis Road Safety Task Force and D-Y Student Interns handed out informational pamphlets on the benefits of using seatbelts, to students and faculty as they exited the parking lot at the end of the school day.

     On Tuesday through Friday members of the Dennis Police Department, Dennis Road Safety Task Force and D-Y High School Student Interns,  conducted a "Buckle-Up D-Y Pledge Drive" from 11:00a.m.-1:00p.m. each day at the bus port entrance of the High School.  Approximately 400 students signed cards pledging to wear their seatbelts while driving or riding in a motor vehicle.

     The Dennis Police Department wishes to thank the members of the Dennis Road Safety Task Force as well as the D-Y High School Student Interns, D-Y High School staff, and the managements and staff of the "Buckle Up Dennis" campaign sponsors. 

     These sponsors include Burger King, Stop & Shop, Regal Cinema's, Pizza Hut, Jason's Restaurant, Marshall's Department Store and the Governor's Highway Safety Bureau.  Thank you for helping us make this buckle up initiative an unqualified success.  Through our combined efforts we were able to reach out to more than  650 residents of the community who pledged to Buckle Up.

     A special thanks to all of the residents of the community who took the pledge to Buckle Up.
