The Dennis Police Department embraces the philosophy of  “community policing” which establishes a partnership and responsibility shared by both the Dennis Police and its citizens.  Our hope is that the Citizen’s Police academy can establish an avenue of communication and understanding that will allow for the identification of needs and the solution of problems confronted by our community.

Text Box:
The members of the Dennis Police Department would like to invite the citizens of Dennis to participate in the Citizen's Police Academy.  The objective of this program is to allow the citizens to learn about and observe first hand the workings of their police department.  Participants will be instructed by the members of the department in a variety of subjects.  These subjects will be taught in various settings and will include a ride-along.  The key to the success of this program is the enthusiasm and participation that the citizens bring to our Citizen's Police Academy.
The Citizen's Police Academy will be held at the Dennis Police Department once a week for ten weeks.  Sessions run from 6:30 pm to 10:00 pm.   Some of the classes may be held at other locations.  Each student may participate in a ride-along with an officer during his patrol.  We would like all students to attend every class but we do understand that sometimes this isn't possible.  In order for students to graduate, they must not miss more than two classes.
